SPARK Prizes

The SPARK Prize is designed to encourage Early and Mid-Career Researchers to connect with a researcher they meet at Digital Health Week 2026. The Award will provide $1500 to develop an early-stage research idea in collaboration with another researcher they meet for the first time as part of participation in networking sessions and other activities in the Digital Health Week 2026 (February 3rd – 5th 2026) program.

A $100 gift voucher for both the successful applicant and their nominated collaborator.


Mentorship

Mentorship from senior digital health leaders associated with the Digital Health and Informatics Network in the 12 months post-award.


Eligiblity


Applicants applying for the Spark Prize must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a Higher Degree Research (HDR) student or an early (< 5 years post PhD) or mid-career (5 - 10 years post PhD) researcher at The University of Sydney (at least 0.2 FTE), in the Faculty of Medicine and Health.


Agree to meet all the outputs for the scheme including:

  1. Participation in a proposal refinement workshop with senior digital health leaders at the University of Sydney and members of DHIN Network Leadership Group.

  2. Submission of a progress Update by the end of 2026.

  3. Presentation of a project learnings/outputs presentation to the DHIN.

  4. Submission of a final report no later than two months after the Grant period end date.
